This is something I’m sure will be useful to most of you as it has been to me. I download tons of stuff either through torrent or directly via download managers. I prefer doing that on the night time, because everyone is asleep, and low browsing speed because of the download does not really matter anyone. With this program, I can set a fixed amount of time for the bitTorrent client to run, after which it will automatically shut down. So, let’s say I share my internet with someone else and he starts using his computer from 5 o’clock in the morning, then using this application I can just schedule the bitTorrent client to run for 5 hours starting from midnight. Then, I won’t have anything to worry about. (Of course there are other ways to tackle this problem.)
Run and Kill is a software developed by Chris Gingerich, which runs a program (.exe only) of your choice and kills it after a specified time period.
You can either call RunAndKill.exe via command line using the syntax:
RunAndKill.exe <Fullpath to EXE> <KillTime>
Or, just specify the program’s path and kill time on RunAndKill.ini file (inside the software’s folder). On the INI file, where it says “exe=”, give the program’s URL and on “killtime=”, specify the time period for which the program should run before it is killed.
Note that KillTime must be mentioned in the format HH:MM:SS.
Once you execute RunAndKill.exe, you will see the icon of running application on the system tray, from where you can choose to close the application immediately instead of waiting for the specified kill time.
I tested it on Windows 7 and it seems to work fine. According to the developer, it will work on Microsoft Windows XP and higher.
Download Run and Kill from it’s official site. It does not require any installation.
