It's been days since Co.CC has shut down and obviously, people have started looking for a better alternative. Here I have made a list of free domain registration services that can act as an alternative to Co.CC. All of the free domains suggested here are indexed by Google as of the moment of making this post. So, you don't need to worry about not ranking on search engine. But, we can't be sure what will happen at a later date. Facebook, however, could have blocked multiple of them.
Tk
DotTk provide free top level domains which belongs to the country Tokelau. They provide URL redirection service as well as DNS support for the domains. However, there is a special condition that your website must get at least 25 visits per 90 days in order to keep using the .tk domain. There are also lots of unfavorable reviews of .tk on the web. Users say that after you start getting lots of traffic, they get unreasonably strict regarding your site's content and then park your website at Sedo for their profit.
Cu.CC
You can register up to 100 cu.cc domain names for free. They offer free DNS service with full MX, A, CNAME and SOA records as well. There is also an affiliate program in place through which you can make money by referring your friends. They have 24 hour abuse report response policy which is very good for a free domain service.
Co.Vu
Thanks to the tweet I received from the guys at Co.Vu, I was made aware of the site. Co.Vu seems to be a really simple subdomain provider. Just sign up with Facebook and you can have your own co.vu domains in literally 5 seconds. You can also directly set up your domain from Co.Vu's admin panel so that you can use it with Tumblr, Posterous, Blogger, Bit.ly, or Phpfog. However, you will need to upgrade to their pro plan if you wish to use NameServers with your co.vu domain. Free users are only allowed to modify DNS records - either Adress (A) record or Canonical Name (CNAME) record. They also have a referral program in place.Uni.me
What earlier used to be CZ.CC has now reborn as Uni.me. You can register unlimited number of free domains with uni.me extension but be sure to use it on a ready made website since they automatically close your account if your site doesn't get visits for 10 days.
Smartdots
They provide more than 40 .tc sub domains, URL redirection, cloaking and full DNS management services for free. One of their most popular sub domain is .net.tc. Unlike new free domain providers that come up every once in a while, Smartdots which is a sub-service of Interdots has been around since always, so their service is used by many. * Doesn't work currently. all of those sub-domains are blocked on facebook and cant be seen on google search engine... .tk is pretty useless too since it will only be available on your site for like 1 week and gone.

smartdots, uni.me, and co.cc is being blocked by facebook. for me smartdots has great sub domains to use but it is being blocked on google search engine and facebook.
attempted to go to cu.cc and the site was blocked, "Access has been blocked as the threat Mal/HTMLGen-A has been found on this website." gees, nothing is sacred-i had .co.cc but am looking for an alternative-i may go to co.nr, i don't like that they force you to place their ad on your site but at least it doesn't seem to be blocked by google or anything...
I don't receive any such notification while visiting cu.cc. It could be a security add-on on your browser that's showing the message. Anyways, all the sites listed above is indexed by Google. If you need a more detailed list, you can go here : http://www.getfreedomain.name
Smartdots isn't working atm. It hasn't worked for at least a month now. You can't log in or register new domains and all domains I've had with them aren't working now.

usa.cc is not blocked by google or Facebook. They also have outstanding business domain: TLD.CC !!
You might want to look at my list also.
Smartdots/Cydots domains are all inactive, too.
Personally, I'd give my vote to Dot.tk; it's the oldest and more customizable one.
I still have a good provider. The domains are nowhere to be blocked or banned.
